mini vacation
Sunday, August 24th, 2008We’re planning a short trip to Vancouver next weekend. It’s going to be pretty sweet. This is our third annual summer trip, and our third trip in the wrx, BUT our first time to take two days to get there.
Now that I’ve come up with this brilliant idea: leave on Thursday, meander to Salmon Arm, spend the night, and carry on to Vancouver to meet up with friends after they get off work on Friday; what the hell are we going to do on our way out there?
There is OF COURSE Dutchman’s Dairy Farm in Sicamous (we always go there on the way to Van, never on the way back), but that is pretty much where we’re staying the night. I don’t really feel like paying the National Parks entrance fee, so I guess we won’t be stopping too often through the parks.
URGH! WHY DID I COME UP WITH ONLY HALF A BRILLIANT IDEA?
OK. I looked into it. Looks like a national park pass for the day is going to be essential. $18 for a few hikes is fine by me, I’ll just pack a picnic lunch and we’ll call the entrance fee a freebie.
I can’t wait for Van, and my friends! woot!
EEEEEEEEEEE! box
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008Yesterday I came home from work with the best pretty-much-the-last-Friday-of-the-summer-gift ever. A case of Newkie Brown for the boy-bot. But he did one better! When I was changing into even more casual than casual Friday clothes I noticed this! on my dresser: an unopened box of eee-box!
I gotted a present!!!
But boy-bot loves the eee-box too. He’s setting it up for me right now. By setting up, I mean that he’s installing a bunch of programs on it. I might have to indian give the computer back to him, OR just get a second one (maybe the dual-core that’s coming out this fall, rumoratively speaking). The plan is for the eee-box to be my computer AND a multimedia center that we can leave on all the time, you know, to watch Colbert and movies and the Daily Show, oh my! on the PS3 and stuff. (We don’t go out much.) I’m just not sure how good we are at sharing.
If you’re looking for an amateur review of the eee-box, go no further. It is awesome. I mean, I’ve only used it for one evening. It’s about the size of an elemetary school text book, about the same weight. You can turn it on and be on the internet in under 30 seconds, and yah, the mouse that comes with it (if you even get the keyboard and mouse package) is a bit small. Other than that, it rocks even more than my eee-pc (which I’m using right now).
Seriously, between the Asus eee-pc, eee-box, and whatever older laptop boy-bot has, I can safely say that Dell will never see my business again…. Now that I’ve received the last adapter I will ever buy from them, I’m tempted to tell Dell how I really feel.
